My favorite parts of 1 Nephi 14 & 15: 1 Nephi 14:25,27 Nephi was shown so many things when he wanted to see and understand the vision of his father. One of them was a vision of what would happen in the last days. However, he was forbidden to write about it, because there would be an apostle of the Lamb who will later write about it. He is then told that this apostle is John. This is 600 years before John will live. Yet Heavenly Father has a plan, and this assignment has already been given to John. I love getting that glimpse into a bit of Heavenly Father’s plan for John’s mission on earth. I believe we were each given talents and gifts to help us accomplish the very specific missions Heavenly Father has for each one of us here on the earth. I think we are also probably given unique challenges that will help us to do that as well. These are just my thoughts though. I also love these scriptures: 1 Nephi 15:11 Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said?-- If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you. 1 Nephi 15:23 & 24 And they said unto me: What meaneth the rod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree? And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction. AuthorI've been focused on raising my family for the last 35 years. We homeschooled for much of it, first due to frequent Navy moves, and then because of learning disabilities and health issues. (OK, maybe we did it because it interested me, and I didn't think anyone else would be likely to care as much as I did.) Anyway, it's been an adventure and a challenge, and now it's on to new adventures for me as that chapter closes. Archives
